William Henry Braithwaite Jr.

    William Henry Jr. “Willie,” the oldest son, opened and ran a bicycle shop at the Homeplace.  He had sail boats at the Braithwaite dock on the York River.  Although, unable to walk, he played baseball and was a good sailor with the help of a black boy who was affectionately called “Legs.”  Willie died at age 51 in 1918.
